Coastal Area Draft Study Report Released
The Louisiana Coastal Area (LCA) draft ecosystem restoration plan study
report has been released. The public comment period of the report ran
from July 9-August 23rd, 2004. The report represents an effort to prepare
a comprehensive plan for coastwide ecosystem restoration to present to
Congress for "programmatic approval". The plan is a more in-depth, follow-on
plan to the Coast 2050 Plan, adopted in 1998. It is estimated that 320,000
net acre of coastal wetlands will be lost by 2050, some by natural causes
but the vast majority by man's affect on Louisiana coastal environment.

maps in the draft LCA plan are given below.
